Ponniyin Selvan is a Tamil movie based on the historical novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The novel is considered as one of the greatest works of Tamil literature and is a masterpiece of historical fiction. One of the most important characters he meets is a mysterious and powerful princess named Nandhini, who has her own hidden agenda. Nandhini is determined to prevent the prince from returning to the kingdom and is willing to go to great lengths to achieve her goal.


Meanwhile, back in the kingdom, Kundavai is approached by a mysterious man named Vandhiyathevan, who claims to have a message from the prince. Kundavai is suspicious of Vandhiyathevan's intentions, but she decides to hear him out. Vandhiyathevan's message is shocking - he claims that the prince is in grave danger and that he needs to be rescued.


Kundavai is torn between her loyalty to her brother and her concern for the safety of the prince. She decides to send Vandhiyathevan on a secret mission to Sri Lanka to rescue the prince and bring him back to the kingdom. But Kundavai's decision sets in motion a series of events that will change the course of history and put the entire kingdom in peril.
